Amazon Blurb: “Keep smiling and being you. Don’t let the world change you” Hello Me, it’s You is a collection of letters by young adults aged 17-24 about their experiences with mental health issues. The letters are written to their 16-year-old selves, giving beautifully honest advice, insight and encouragement for all that lays ahead of them. This book was produced by the Hello Me, it’s You charity, set up by the editor, Hannah. Hannah was diagnosed with depression and anxiety whilst at university and found comfort in talking to friends about their experiences, realising she was not alone in her situation. This inspired the idea for the charity and book. Through the creation of materials such as this, the charity aims to provide reassurance for young adults (and their families) who are experiencing mental health issues and give a voice to young adults on such an important topic. The result of that will hopefully be a reduction in the negative stigma surrounding mental health and an increase in awareness of young people’s experiences. All profits go the Hello Me, it’s You charity, for the production of future supportive books. Trigger warning: Due to it’s nature, the content of this book may be triggering. Title: Remember Yesterday ( Forget Yesterday #1)
Author: Pintip Dunn Publisher: Entangled Teen Publication Date: October 4th, 2016 Genre: YA, Dystopia, Fantasy Format: Ebook My Rating: 5/5 stars Links: GoodReads . Amazon Blurb: The sequel to the sci-fi hit Forget Tomorrow is a twisting, turning roller-coaster ride—the perfect sci-fi futuristic read. Seventeen-year-old Jessa Stone is the most valuable citizen in Eden City. Her psychic abilities could lead to significant scientific discoveries -- if only she'd let TechRA study her. But after they kidnapped and experimented on her as a child, cooperating with the scientists is the last thing Jessa would do. But when she discovers the past isn't what she assumed, Jessa must join forces with budding scientist Tanner Callahan to rectify a fatal mistake made ten years ago. She'll do anything to change her past -- even if it means aligning herself with the enemy she swore to defeat. My Review: I received an e-Arc of Remember Yesterday from the publisher via NETGalley, in exchange with an honest review. A spellbinding sequel that will leave you begging for more with every chapter you consume I liked reading Forget Tomorrow, but I LOVED Remember Yesterday !!!! Once I finished the 1st 20% of the book, each chapter ended with me yelling "What !" & "OMG! " Not only does the plot thickens, but also the way how everything lines up by the end of the book is incredible. Anything that seemed vague by the end of book one played an important role in the events that take place in book 2. The romance in this book was very refreshing. The author switched how the typical girl likes boy,boy likes girl is represented in YA Literature. Every single character in this book has a great role to play, a chance to become more mature, a hard decision to take, and a memory to fulfill or let go off. All of that was shown perfectly . I really enjoyed reading it from Jessa's perspective Here are some of my favorite Quotes: 1) These people have lost their minds to a riot. We have no idea what they'll do, or not do ! 2) These are the casualties of War . 3) Time Passes. You take one breath, and then the next. The moment disappears and the next one arrives, and you're still here. There's an Honor in that. Simply enduring. I honestly can't wait for book 3. I am hungover over this amazing book !!! Pintip Dunn is killing it with this kick ass sequel. I can't wait to see how many awards this book is going to collect. I give it 5/5 stars

Title: Heart and Brain ( Gut instincts ) Author: The Awkward Yeti, Nick Seluk Publisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing Publication Date: October 18th, 2016 Genre: Comic , Humor My Rating : 5/5 stars Links : Goodreads . Amazon Blurb: Heart and Brain: Gut Instincts is the follow-up to the tremendously popular New York Times bestseller, Heart and Brain: An Awkward Yeti Collection. The Awkward Yeti's Heart and Brain comics perfectly illustrate the ongoing, internal struggle betwixt head and heart. Heart and Brain: Gut Instincts features the same lovable characters as the first book and introduces a host of other vital organs like insatiable Tongue, irritable Bowels, and abused Stomach. My Review: I received an e-ARC of this comic from the publisher via NetGalley , in exchange with an honest review. Nick Seluk will capture your attention, mock your guilty pleasures, and make you L.O.L ! If you have ever heard Selena Gomez's " The Heart Wants What it Wants", then you know who usually wins the battle of "Taking the best, practical decision VS taking the most fun one." This comic will perfectly show you that this isn't an equation that can be balanced. The right action to take can not be presented as a monopoly ; it basically differs from one scenario, to another. Think of it like a seesaw . We get to see this in how Brain and Heart discuss matters. Mostly, they disagree and see things differently ; but sometime, they get to learn from each other. In this second issue, we get to see how the Gut reacts to every day activities that we usually engage in. In my opinion, it is a smart, entertaining representation of what happens inside the body. I believe this could be a very beneficial way to educate people, both young and old. Visual stimulation is, in my opinion, the best way to learn . I absolutely loved this comic. It made laugh at this generation's social norms, experience life from the point of view of different organs, and fall in love with biology again. I can't wait to read the next issue. Listen to your Gut Instincts & pre-order your copy. I give 5/5 stars. About The Awkward Yeti: The Awkward Yeti encompasses multiple series by cartoonist Nick Seluk. The ongoing self-titled strip, The Awkward Yeti, follows Lars the yeti as he experiences everyday social awkwardness at work, in his social life, even while dating. The popular spinoff, Heart and Brain, follow the inner dialogue between the cynical, society-influenced Brain and the impulsive, optimistic Heart. Together, the three characters were metaphorically inspired by the concept of the Id (Heart), the Ego (Lars) and the Superego (Brain) but have developed their own personalities over time. In addition to the two regular series, miscellaneous comics explore life, science and many other topics through ridiculous personification of organs, animals, and even rocks. My Review: I received a review copy from Curiosity Quills , in exchange with an honest review. Broken Dolls is not only a book with an intruging plot that urges many readers to pick up the book, but also a story that will keep you questioning the main characters' motives with every page flipped. If you enjoyed Coraline, then you are probably going to end up Head over Heels for this book! If I can review this book with only one sentence, then this would be it . "This book is weird in the best way ever !!" After finishing this book, all that I wanted to do is send an email to Tim Burton to tell him about this incredible story !! I can see this adapted into a successful, dark stop motion animation . This book helped me survive my migraine that lasted for more than 12 hours ! When my eyes were closed to escape the dreadful fatigue , I had such a luscious, vivid tale to entertain me. Some people weren't pleased with how the book ended, but I simply believe that it was perfect. I absolutely loved Broken Dolls, and I can't wait to read more books by this awesome author. I give it 5/5 stars. About the Author: I'm a Jack, or more accurately, a Tyrolin of all trades. Title: Curses & Ash ( Coral & Bones ) Author: Tiffany Daune Publisher: Jester Ink Press -Self Published Publication Date: January 2016 Genre: YA , Fantasy , Mermaids, Magic Format: Paperback My Rating: 5/5 stars Links: Amazon . Goodreads Blurb: Discover the spellbinding sequel to Coral & Bone... A demented twin sister, a demon hijacking her powers, and a mysterious journal filled with more questions than answers—Halen needs her Guardian Dax more than ever. But if she confides in Dax, she fears he will never forgive her, not after all he sacrificed to help her vanquish Asair. Halen drowned Asair in a tornado of wings—at least, she thought she killed him. Why then does his mocking voice snake through her thoughts, enticing her to surrender her power? Maybe she screwed up—big time—but she will never allow Asair to control her magick. And when Etlis' fires threaten the Earth, suspicions surrounding Asair's death rise, igniting restlessness within the realms. Her life in balance, Halen must race time, purge the demon's soul before flames consume the Earth or the Tari strike first. My Review: I received a copy of Curses & Ash from the author in exchange with my honest review . I really enjoyed reading Coral & Bones , the 1st book in the series. I fell in love with the plot , writing style, and world building . I was expecting the sequel, Curses & Ash, to be like it. It wasn't ; it was much better !! I have no idea Tiffany was able to make a sequel that was so great , compared to the epic start of the series . Sequels sometimes end up to be a disappointment , but Tiffany was able to break this stereotype. The story picks from where the 1st book ended, with us wondering if Asair is actually inside Halen. This means that one will be hooked by the story directly. In this sequel that is filled with surprises, hate, love, and a lot of ( OMG), I found myself unable to put this book down. The book was leaving me torn apart with every chapter I finish ! The book contained a story within a story that left me amazed. It was so creative , like that in Holly Black's The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. Between the unfolding events, characters' pasts, and their lies&secrets, you will barely be able to put this book down. As I approached the end, I entered a reading phase that I rarely ever visit; the shuffling between "Having a few pages left ,with events that are going to destroy me emotionally, that I pause with every page to delay it" & " Reading so fast to see how the story ends " ! How does Tiffany have all of this amazing creativity ???? Not only that, but she describes these descriptions and feelings perfectly ! No, perfect doesn't even begin to describe this ." To sum it all up, this book left me emotionally exhausted , and impatiently waiting for the end of the series ! I give Curses & Ash 5/5 stars . Click on the image to read my review of Coral & Bones ! Blurb: Halen knows the sparks igniting under her fingertips are dangerous. Twitter Title: Torn Sky Author: Tracy Banghart Publisher : Alloy Entertainment Publication Date: August 4th 2015 Format: ebook Genre: Dystopia, Retelling, YA, Romance My Rating: 4.5/5 stars Links: GoodReads Amazon Blurb: The end is near . . . When Aris Haan brought down Safara’s biggest war criminal, she’d thought it was a turning point in the war. Victory was on the horizon, as was a peaceful future with her Promised, Milek. But a deadly new threat has emerged: a Safaran bomb that could wipe out all of Atalanta in one catastrophic blast. Aris is tasked with finding the weapon before it is completed, a mission made more difficult when she starts to suspect that there is a Safaran spy in her unit. Friendships are tested, loyalties are strained, and suddenly Aris no longer knows whom she can trust. In the epic conclusion to the Rebel Wing series, Atalanta’s fate rests on Aris’s shoulders. Can she find the bomb before it destroys everything—and everyone—she loves? My Review: I was so happy when Alloy Entertainment sent me an ebook copy via NetGalley,in exchange with an honest review. Before starting the book, I saw how many people were disappointed with this novel, and started doubting if I was really going to enjoy it. Guess what, I LOVED IT ! The first book (Rebel Wing) , and the sequel (Storm Fall) , were beyond amazing! It was no surprise for me to discover how amazing is this series finale ! Did it have a slow beginning, yes! But after 9%, I couldn't stop reading from all of the events and sub plots that just kept on coming back to back. Torn Sky is the perfect mix of Romance and Action. I got to see Aris's and Milek's relationship develop, and we finally get to see Dysis happy ! ;) The last 20% of the book left me with lots of emotions rushing through my mind. One thing that really caught my attention is how this book focuses on Women Strength ; how they can accomplish anything they want, even if the law is against it. I love how Tracy ended the series, and resolved every single thread of a plot. This Mulan retelling dystopian series is just so amazing. I can't believe that this series is over ! I enjoyed reading this final installment I will be keeping an eye for what Tracy releases next;I am waiting to be hooked by her next novel. I give it 4.5/5 stars Haven't heard about the series ????? Check out my reviews on Rebel Wing and Storm Fall About the Author: Award-winning author, Army wife, and mom Tracy Banghart has an MA in Publishing and an unhealthy affection for cupcakes. Her quiet childhood led to a reading addiction, writing obsession, and several serious book boyfriends. Title: Engage ( Ignite 2.5) Author: Erica Crouch Publisher: Patchwork Press Publication Date : May 5th, 2015 Genre: Paranormal, YA, Angels and Demons My Rating: 5/5 stars Blurb: Kalaziel is a terrible guardian angel: her temper’s shorter than she is, she swears, she’s missing a wing, and she sees no problem with letting man make their own choices—no matter how questionable. That’s what free will is all about, right? Her overseers disagree. After she mishandles an assignment, Heaven strips Kala of her title and throws her back into training, hoping to reinforce the covenant of vows she swore to uphold as a guardian. But the angels’ motives aren’t as pure as they appear: they want to eradicate any opinions that conflict with Heaven’s code. With a mass cleansing on the horizon, Kala discovers she is not alone in her insubordination; there are other angels who are restless with the stasis of Heaven and ready for change. Progress doesn’t come easily, though, especially when it means uniting ancient enemies to fight for a common cause. Engage is a novella that prequels Kala and Ana’s story in Incite. My Review: I received an eARC of Engage from Parchwork Press via NetGalley in exchange with an honest review. I absolutely loved Klaziel's story ; everything starting from character building to her actions in the book are amazing . I disagree with the fact she is a terrible angel ! How she reacted to a man's choice shows great wisdom. Obviously her Overseers disagree, and this where the story begins. The story focuses on how Kala and Ana met, which I believe was something that all of the Ignite series fans were highly anticipating, and Erica didn't disappoint ! My favorite part was when the angels were falling. Erica was able to depict such a tragic yet beautiful scenery that I kept on replaying in my mind over and over again. I was able to fill a lot of of time gaps, since Engage happens during between both the first book and the first half of the second book. This was really interesting because I got to connect all the pieces of the Ignite puzzle while reading Engage . The book ends with most perfect epilogue that kept me wishing Infinite (Ignite #3) was out already. I really enjoyed reading Engage and gave it 5/5 stars. Haven't Heard About the Series :O ?? Start with Ignite and Incite !
Title: The Circle Broken ( The Circle #2) Author: K.M. Montemayor Publisher: Smashwords Publication date: January 26th 2014 Genre: YA, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance Format:e ARC My Rating: 5/5 ( A-) Blurb: Without Charlie, Lilly can find no reason to live. She throws herself into her studies and eventually becomes a doctor. But hiding behind her career doesn't work. Despite all her efforts to forget the past, she still finds herself haunted by her memories of him. Charlie's decision to be with Lilly has cost him his freedom, and perhaps his sanity. His doctor finds his aberrant attraction to an Earthan fascinating and begins to experiment on him. The unorthodox treatment methods take a toll and Charlie finds himself questioning everything he ever believed about her. A rebel group is gaining power on Sentria. The New Way promises the people more control over their own lives. Will the people finally be able to have freedom? Is that even possible for a planet that has been oppressed for centuries? My Review: I received an e ARC of The Circle Broken from NetGalley in exchange with an honest review. A book were my heart was broken with every turn of page narrated by Charlie and Lilly. I have already read the first book, The Circle, and when I saw this, I could not do anything but get it.From How the way ended in Book 1 , I knew that this was going to be a sad book. And it was. The only reason it took me so long to finish it is that I had started it during my finals and I could not handle reading something so sad during such nerving times. So as soon as I finished my exams, I continued reading. And I read it everywhere,in the airport, in the mall,in the shop, and in the car ( no worries I was not driving) And every time I had to fight the urge to hide my tears. I never cried in public over a book ! I read 10 years of torture, pain, and ghosts of memories. I do not which is worst. To think that someone you love is dead. Or to know that someone you love thinks that you are dead, and that you would never see her again because it is wrong by the rules By the end, there were only 20 pages left, and I was completely loosing my mind; How can everything be fixed in 20 pages? I started pacing back and forth, tossing my phone away because I am afraid of what coming next. The probabilities where infinite. Lilly could move on and fall in love with someone else, or charlie could remain a jerk for ever, or he would come to his senses to late, and all I can do is scream and shout! My sister even started laughing at me. And the ending well, let me just say that you would have enjoyed watching me reading it ! I love how Kathleen added more description in this book than the first one. It really showed up and made a great difference in reading ! There was still some things that were a bit fast paced, and that I wish we got more explanation how it happened. I really enjoyed getting tortured by The Circle Broken and I give it 5/5 stars ( A- according to my own rating scale ! ) Title: Storm Fall ( Rebel Wing #2) Author: Tracy Banghart Publisher: Alloy Entertainment Publication Date: December 16th, 2014 Genre: YA, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance Format: e ARC My Rating: 5/5 stars (A) Blurb: In the action-packed sequel to Rebel Wing, Aris battles for life and love . . . and not everyone will survive. Aris Haan gave up everything to join the Atalantan Military: her family, her boyfriend, even her identity. In the end, though, it didn’t matter that she was a war hero. When the all-male Military discovered that she was actually a woman, she was sent home and erased from history. Now she has a chance to go back to the battlefield—as herself. But as hard as it was to be a soldier in disguise, it’s even more difficult now. The men in her unit undermine her at every turn. The Safaran army has spies everywhere, perhaps even on Aris’s stationpoint. And she’s falling for her mysterious superior officer, Milek. But their relationship is forbidden, just stolen moments between training sessions and missions. There’s no room for love in war. Then Aris discovers that Safara’s leaders have set their sights on her, Atalanta’s hero. And she must find them before they find her My Review: I received Storm Fall from Alloy Entertainment via NetGalley in exchange with an honest review. So we all know how sometimes the second book in a series is a huge let down to the readers, well Storm Fall does not fall under this category ! I absolutely loved this as much as the first book, if not more. The Book begins with a new law being added, which is ( Women can volunteer to enter the Military). Of course, Aris volunteers , because the Military is now her life. Of course, there is also Milek ! However, he is not the reason why she is going back. She loves the fact that she can save people. Returning there as a women won't be easy. Almost everyone look down at her , or even worse, harass her. The Plot thickens as Sadara's leaders feel that they are threatened by Aris, and would stop at nothing to bring her and Atlanta down. As if the action was not enough, the interaction between characters develops , and adds new conflicts to the story. We also get more Ariek ( Romance) , which is awesome. I really enjoyed Storm Fall as much as I loved Rebel Wings. Perhaps even more; I mean it contains more action and more romance! I give it 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale ! Title: Rebel Wing ( Rebel Wing #1) Author: Tracy Banghart Publisher: Alloy entertainment Publication Date: July 29th, 2014 Genre: New Adult, War, Dystopia, Sci-Fi, Romance Format: eARC My Rating: 5/5 ( A) Blurb: The Dominion of Atalanta is at war. But for eighteen-year-old Aris, the fighting is nothing more than a distant nightmare, something she watches on news vids from the safety of her idyllic seaside town. Then her boyfriend, Calix, is drafted into the Military, and the nightmare becomes a dangerous reality. Left behind, Aris has nothing to fill her days. Even flying her wingjet—the thing she loves most, aside from Calix—feels meaningless without him by her side. So when she’s recruited to be a pilot for an elite search-and-rescue unit, she leaps at the chance, hoping she’ll be stationed near Calix. But there’s a catch: She must disguise herself as a man named Aristos. There are no women in the Atalantan Military, and there never will be. Aris gives up everything to find Calix: her home. Her family. Even her identity. But as the war rages on, Aris discovers she’s fighting for much more than her relationship. With each injured person she rescues and each violent battle she survives, Aris is becoming a true soldier—and the best flyer in the Atalantan Military. She’s determined to save her Dominion . . . or die trying. For fans of Divergent, Code Name Verity, and The 100, Rebel Wing is an epic sci-fi adventure that explores just how far one girl will go for love and country. My Review: I received an eARC of Rebel wing from Alloy Entertainment via NetGalley in exchange with an honest review . The beginning of the story itself is a kind of a retelling of Mulan. We follow the story of Aris,a girl who loves to fly and can hardly wait to be promised by the love of her life Calix. However things do not go according to plan when Calix is chosen to join the Military and leave Aris unpromised. feeling heart broken, she lost her love for flying and when she was offered a chance to join the military as flyer, she takes it. But women aren't allowed to enter the Military , and entering means being highly fit. Could Aris overcome her fragility and make it in? Will she reunite with Calix? Could she actually fit in and help rescue other people? I know, it sounds kick Ass right? I loved the transformation that Aris has gone through, which was from being dependent on everyone to being strong enough to stand for what she believes. The Author did that in a very impressive way through out the book. I was able to connect to how each character was feeling very easily. It was as if I was right there;like I was in their shoes. This is book that I had a really hard time to put it down. The book was a perfect escape route from my exams. Each reading session left me eager to read more and quite refreshed to carry on with my studying. I loved this book and I believe that it is going to be one of my favorite series. It has this perfect mix of character development, action, and love. I give this book 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale ! |
