Title: Rebel Wing ( Rebel Wing #1) Author: Tracy Banghart Publisher: Alloy entertainment Publication Date: July 29th, 2014 Genre: New Adult, War, Dystopia, Sci-Fi, Romance Format: eARC My Rating: 5/5 ( A) Blurb: The Dominion of Atalanta is at war. But for eighteen-year-old Aris, the fighting is nothing more than a distant nightmare, something she watches on news vids from the safety of her idyllic seaside town. Then her boyfriend, Calix, is drafted into the Military, and the nightmare becomes a dangerous reality. Left behind, Aris has nothing to fill her days. Even flying her wingjet—the thing she loves most, aside from Calix—feels meaningless without him by her side. So when she’s recruited to be a pilot for an elite search-and-rescue unit, she leaps at the chance, hoping she’ll be stationed near Calix. But there’s a catch: She must disguise herself as a man named Aristos. There are no women in the Atalantan Military, and there never will be. Aris gives up everything to find Calix: her home. Her family. Even her identity. But as the war rages on, Aris discovers she’s fighting for much more than her relationship. With each injured person she rescues and each violent battle she survives, Aris is becoming a true soldier—and the best flyer in the Atalantan Military. She’s determined to save her Dominion . . . or die trying. For fans of Divergent, Code Name Verity, and The 100, Rebel Wing is an epic sci-fi adventure that explores just how far one girl will go for love and country. My Review: I received an eARC of Rebel wing from Alloy Entertainment via NetGalley in exchange with an honest review . The beginning of the story itself is a kind of a retelling of Mulan. We follow the story of Aris,a girl who loves to fly and can hardly wait to be promised by the love of her life Calix. However things do not go according to plan when Calix is chosen to join the Military and leave Aris unpromised. feeling heart broken, she lost her love for flying and when she was offered a chance to join the military as flyer, she takes it. But women aren't allowed to enter the Military , and entering means being highly fit. Could Aris overcome her fragility and make it in? Will she reunite with Calix? Could she actually fit in and help rescue other people? I know, it sounds kick Ass right? I loved the transformation that Aris has gone through, which was from being dependent on everyone to being strong enough to stand for what she believes. The Author did that in a very impressive way through out the book. I was able to connect to how each character was feeling very easily. It was as if I was right there;like I was in their shoes. This is book that I had a really hard time to put it down. The book was a perfect escape route from my exams. Each reading session left me eager to read more and quite refreshed to carry on with my studying. I loved this book and I believe that it is going to be one of my favorite series. It has this perfect mix of character development, action, and love. I give this book 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale !

Yet, when they take a deep interest in her, appearing in unprecedented numbers, the job becomes more dangerous than any Daniel’s ever experienced. My Review: I received an e ARC copy of Catch me When I fall from Curiosity Quills Press via NetGalley in exchange with an honest Review . This book is a perfect read for The Mortal Instruments fans. You will be blown away with the world building and the fighting scenes. The concept of there are people who weave dreams and fight away nightmares got me all hooked up on the story. There were times were I got a bit confused. How could Kayla, who have gone through certain devastating events in the past have these frequent bursts of bravery and trust? I started the book with great interest, fell a bit uncertain if I am going to like or not, then ended up liking it again. Overall, I really recommend this to all of Cassandra Clare readers; you will love it. I personally can't wait for book 2 in this amazing series. I give it 3/5 stars and a C+ according to my own rating scale. Title: The Henderson Harbor Killings: Summer Shack 2 Author: Kelli Landon Publisher: Self-Published Publication Date: August 21, 2014 Genre: Mystery, thriller Format: e-ARC My Rating:4/5 stars ( B) Blurb: Revenge doesn’t come with an expiration date. Before Summer Shack (A Killer Vacation), Cynthia Barnett was a classmate and neighbor of Burt Whitehead’s. Graduating from Birchville High in 2000, she was known as the girl who got away. She was frowned upon for hanging with Burt’s bullies, but she held her own against the ridicule they put him through. The story leading up to high school graduation is told through Cynthia’s eyes. The Whiteheads lead a very different lifestyle. Burt tries to live his own life while dealing with his dominating mother, Vera. Rumors of Vera’s missing husband as well as the child abuse afflicted upon Burt, don’t make life easy for him. While working up at the Henderson Harbor lighthouse, Burt practices his revenge in ways he learned from his mother and another relative. His crimes rock Door County as he takes to the Internet to lure in his victims. Burt Whitehead’s story makes up Part Two of The Henderson Harbor Killings. My Review: I received Summer Shack Prequel from the author Kelli Landon in exchange with an honest review. You don't have to read Summer Shack: Book 1 to enjoy this. This is a Prequel, not a sequel. Revenge does not come with an expiration Date.......Intriguing right?? I absolutely loved this; the way the author build up the case of Burt, who was a normal kid and turned into a psychopath is literally amazing. During this huge transformation, you get to sympathize with Burt and get creeped by him at the same time. You get to observe his swinging emotions until they are completely destroyed. So there was a lot of character Building in this book. However,I kind of did not buy his final switch into a complete killer. There was just too much killing going on. This is just a minor thing that I did not like; other than that, I really enjoyed Summer Shack 2 with the mystery and the thrilling, and sometimes kind of terrifying, cold events. I give it 4/5 stars and a B according to my own rating scale. Title: Footprints Author: Duncan Wills Publisher: Troubador Publishing Ltd Publication Date: August 29, 2014 Genre: Middle Grade, fantasy Format: e ARC My Rating: 3/5 stars ( C+) Blurb: It’s the 1950’s. Sammy is a quiet loner who has recently suffered personal tragedy. At the bottom of a wardrobe he finds a dusty old book which his dad brought back from the war. Unbeknown to him it is an ancient magical book possessing massive powers. Also unknown to him evil people in far off lands are searching for the book. My Review: I received Footprints from Troubador Publishing LTD via Netgalley in exchange with an honest review . This was magical middle grade read, where we observe Sammy's story with encountering a old magical book . The book seems to hold onto all kind of secrets and knowledge about the world and in the wrong hands, the consequences might be lethal. Sammy's life literally changes once he finds this old book, which is really interesting to read. However, 80% of the entire story was absolutely predictable for me, so I was not that affected by the story. I still think it a pretty fine Middle grade read; something young children might really enjoy reading. I give Footprints 3/5 stars and a C+ according to my own review scale! Title: Undertow (Undertow #1) Author: K.r. Conway Publisher: Patchwork Press Publication Date: October 1, 2013 Genre: Paranormal,Supernatural,YA Format: e ARC MY Rating: 5/5 stars (A) BLURB: Eila Walker knows luck is not a friend, so she is downright shocked to inherit a million-dollar Cape Cod home. And yeah, her new town isn't perfect: the cheerleaders are heinous clones, the local undertow can kill ya, and her Great Grams was supposedly fried by lightning in the harbor square. Still, Eila is hopeful her luckless days are in the past . . . until history decides to repeat itself. My Review: I received Undertow from Patchwork Press via netgalley in exchange with an honest review. Just when I thought that there could not be anymore original and interesting Supernatural YA Novels, K.R. Conway seemed to prove me wrong with UnderTow, a great start of a mind blowing series. First thing First, I googled the meaning of UNDERTOW which is : A Strong Current After finishing the book, I think that the title pretty much describes the series very well because , what does the strong current do? chaos, disasters, loss, then eventually becoming stronger and perhaps recovery. The Prologue is very captivating, you only need to read a few pages to get hooked. Although after the prologue the intensity slowed down a bit, I was not able to stop reading due to the anticipation of wanting to know what happens next and falling in love with all of the characters I could almost relate to all of the main characters. There were a lot of, OMG this is exactly how I feel moments ! "Better to be a locked Vault than an open book I guess" _ Ana The Book is packed with adventure, danger, along with the elements of sacrifice, love, friendship, and betrayal. Yet, I ended it needing more, hence the main issue has not been resolved yet. This is definitely going to be added to my favorite series list , and I can't wait to read the next one. I give this book 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale ! Title: Order of the Dimensions Author: Irene Helenowiski Publisher: self-published Publication Date: September 14th, 2012 Format: Paperback My Rating : 3/5 stars ( C-) Blurb: When Jane Kremowski first began her graduate studies in physics at Madison State University in Wisconsin, little did she know where her work would take her. Now, she is embroiled in a multitude of dimensions all leading to different outcomes. She and her colleagues therefore must act wisely in order to take and keep away the Order of Dimension from falling into the wrong hands for the sake of her loved ones. My Review: I received a copy of Order of the Dimensions from the author in exchange with an honest review. This book is the first in the Order of the Dimensions Trilogy. This book took me to another world, where all my fantasies of seeing what happen in alter universes/dimensions came true during the days I was reading it. Imagine that there is a device that can transport you to another dimension, a place were you gain control of not losing a family member, or a place where you rule the WORLD. Yes, It gets dangerous when the device falls in the wrong hands. Which happens, a lot ! You get to see what happens in many dimensions, which is shaped according to what the one in controls wants. Although , the premise of the story is way more than just appealing, I had some problems with the writing style. The author seems to be into describing the way the conversation is going instead of how the characters are dealing with the situation. The Emotions in this book play a huge part, but being described in just a single or couple of words does not serve it any good. There is a thing that was a bit confusing, like when does the person remember if he/she was from another dimension. However, this was such an interesting read that I was barely able to put it down.I am looking forward to start book 2 soon . Irene told me that the writing style is different in the last two books, which is great because the series has such a great premise and the the writing style will add up to the entire book quality I give this book 3/5 stars and a C- according to my own rating scale. Title: Puppet Author: Pauline C. Harris Publisher: Patchwork Press Publication Date: October 24, 2014 Format: eARC My Rating: 4/5 stars ( B) Blurb: Penelope lives in a world of advanced technology but many claim society has yet to catch up. Marionettes have advanced in the form of robots; lifelike creations remote controlled to perform super human tasks. When Penelope makes a deal with Jed, a marionette-obsessed scientist, she doesn’t fully realize what she’s getting herself into. In order for Jed to take her away from the orphanage she lives in, she must first agree to undergo his experiments and tests, ultimately creating something no one ever dreamed possible; the first living marionette. My Review: I received an e ARC copy of puppet from Patchwork press via Netgalley in exchange with an honest review. Puppet is a retelling of the classic Pinocchio. The author finds such an exquisite and unique plot filled with advanced technology & action and weavers it perfectly with many Pinocchio aspects. It took me a bit to see the Pinocchio resemblance, but once i saw it, there was no going back. It is magnificent ! I loved how the author kept going back and forth between the life she gave away, and was what she signed up for really worth it. The Self discovery journey is mind blowing, especially when everyone seems to control you , except for you. I think the romance element was a bit rushed. There were literally no signs to show that those two certain characters both had feelings for each other. Also, there was that one description that was repeated way more than it needed to convey the message. However, this was definitely an enjoyable read, a perfect retelling, and a great self discovery story. I gave Puppet 4/5 stars and a B according to my own rating scale. Title:The Scorch Trails ( The Maze Runner #2) Author: James Dashner Publisher: Delacorte Press Publication Date: October 10th, 2010 Genre: Dystopian, Sci Fi, YA Format: Paperback My Rating: 5/5 stars ( A) Blurb: Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch. There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die. The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them. Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off. There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive. My Review: The sequel of The Maze Runner keeps up with the level of mystery and thrill, but in a different way. It picks up right from where The Maze Runner ended, which is great. I Found it much easier to get into because I was already invested in the story and I was trying to figure out Wicked and all the crazy things that were happening. Not only that the element of love is added in the second book, but also it is a Love triangle. This story is about extreme manipulation with emotions and believes, and James Dashner was able to involve me with what Thomas went through. It might not be highly action packed like The Maze Runner, oh man, but the feels it gives you is phenomenal ! Every couple chapters left me humming the intro of Macklemores' Thrift Shop, which goes something like What What What , What What What? The Only thing that kind of annoyed me was how much Thomas passed out and slept in this book, probably about 20 times ! I really enjoyed the Scorch Trails and I gave it 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale. Title: The Selection #1 Author: Kiera Cass Publisher: Harper Teen Publication Date: April 24th 2012 Genre: YA, Dystopian, Love Edition : Paperback My Rating: 5/5 stars (A) Blurb: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. My Review: A great enjoyable read , even though it was not what I expected it to be. I really admired how the author designed the status scale, from 1 to 8, where what you work , how much you get paid, and your social status were all decided by the government. However , this is not a book about a corrupted government, but a contest that is held when the prince is looking for a bride, and this is where the story begins. I did not know what exactly what would the Selection would be, perhaps a hand to hand combat between princesses, or something :D Although the concept of the Selection itself in kind of plain and not that creative, the way the characters were described and the conversations made me finish the book in less than day. The book is mostly character based and although there is not much of action or fighting going on, I still found myself strongly invested in the story. An applause for Kiera Cass for making me like both boys in this love triangle, but it is still Team Maxon :) I can't wait to have the second book in the series " The Elite" between my hands and read it. I gave this book 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale. Title: Tortured Souls ( The Orion Circle #1) Author: Kimber Leigh Wheaton Publisher: Sea Dragon Press Publication Date: July 1 2014 Genre: YA, Supernatural,Suspense,Paranormal Edition: eARC My Rating: 4/5 stars ( B+) Blurb: Sometimes Rest in Peace isn't an option... Kacie Ramsey sees ghosts—and it's ruining her life. Her mother left, her father blames her, and no matter how hard she tries, she can't keep the ghosts away. Now a new power has emerged. Nightly visions of grisly murders and a relentless predator draw her to the brink of insanity. My Review: I received an eARC copy from Sea Dragon Press via NetGalley in exchange with my honest review. A stunning Paranormal story that is perfect for The Ghost Whisper and The Medium lovers! I could totally understand now how fitting is this cover with what happens in the story. This is a great fast read packed up with great paranormal events . A great choice if someone is going through a reading slump . There is always something worth anticipating for in the next chapter. I kind of felt that sometimes things where fast paced a bit , well actually. two things where fast paced. Mild Spoiler Alert!!! 1) The love story 2) When her father finally listens to what Kacie says and actually tries to believe. Why not before? I also had the impact that Kacie was too dependent at times, it was a bit annoying, but the story is great so those where kind of easy to disregard. I love the other characters, especially Carl ! Why is everyone so mean to him ?? :D Each character brings in a different shade of awesomeness to add to the story. I can't wait to see how the series go on, literally waiting to grab book 2 whenever is out! I give this book 4/5 stars and a B according to my own scale |
