The Good Girl Vs. The Player
Round one begins...
Trina Clemons needed the money. Why else would she - the most organized, prepared student in school - spend the summer as a nanny and partner with the biggest slacker ever? Now she's ready to tackle nannyhood with her big binder of research and schedules. Just don't ask her about the secret job of "fixing" the bad habits of a certain high school player...
Slade Edmunds prefers easy hook-ups, and Trina is definitely not his type. She's all structure and rules, while Slade wants to just have fun. Fortunately, Trina has no idea about the bet Slade made with his best friend that he can totally get her to unwind by the end of summer...
Then the weirdest thing happens. There's chemistry. A lot of it.
But nothing gets between a boy and a girl like a big, fat secret
I received an e ARC of Playing the Player from Entangled Teen Crush via NetGalley in exchange with my honest review .
When I first read the plot, I thought that the plot wasn't the most original thing. I expected it to be one of those stories where it is about how the ending is reached, and not how the story ends.
Lisa didn't disappoint at all ! There wasn't a single moment were a felt that a scene was familiar from some other book or movie. With all of mind blowing characters she created, I was busy laughing and swooning the entire time.
I really loved how each character had his/ her own...flavor ? I seriously can't imagine this book without any of them. It is like the author mind mapped every single detail, from their characteristics to their appearances, to make them this epic. For instance, I loved how Slade had long hair, and tied it with a shoelace....WHAT ??
I fell for all of the characters, the jerk, Trina, Alex, and most importantly, the kids ! My favorite lines had to be :
" The library is a public place ?" :O
"It Naked time ! "
And this is just a hint on how crazy these kids are.
The romance was perfect ! I only wish there was a bit more. There was a part in the book, right after the first kiss, where the events were shown fast forward after 2 weeks. I wish we saw what how the relationship grew, or that specific * spoiler alert* swimming session ! If there are any deleted scenes, I hope that we get to read them soon . ;)
I also didn't like how the 1st secret came out; I wish it happened in a different way.
The fact that I read this in one day basically says it all; this must be my favorite entangled teen crush book so far ! I absolutely fell in love with Lisa's writing style; she knows how to hook a reader, and I can't wait to read more books by her.
I give Playing the Player 4.5 stars out 5.
1) Womanizer by Britney Spears
2) Clarity by Zedd ft. Foxes
3) Heart Attack by Demi Lovato
4) Second Go by Lights

After Hadley’s best friend moves away and she gets on the bad side of some girls at school, she goes to spend the summer with her grandparents in the Lake Michigan resort town of Grand Haven. Her next door neighbor is none other than teen TV star Simone Hendrickson, who is everything Hadley longs to be—pretty, popular, and famous—and she’s thrilled when Simone treats her like a friend.
Being popular is a lot harder than it looks.
It’s fun and flattering when Simone includes her in her circle, though Hadley is puzzled about why her new friend refuses to discuss her former Hollywood life. Caught up with Simone, Hadley finds herself ignoring her quiet, steadfast friend, Charlotte.
To make things even more complicated, along comes Nick Jenkins…
He’s sweet, good-looking, and Hadley can be herself around him without all the fake drama. However, the mean girls have other ideas and they fill Nick’s head with lies about Hadley, sending him running back to his ex-girlfriend and leaving Hadley heartbroken.
So when her parents decide to relocate to Grand Haven, Hadley hopes things will change when school starts…only to be disappointed once again.
Love gone bad.
Is this really what it’s like to live…

Even worse, Billington is harboring a secret of its own: Interlopers have infiltrated the university, and their sinister plans are targeted at chimeras—like Eve.
Instantly, Eve’s new life takes a drastic turn. In a time filled with chaos, is the world focusing on the wrong enemy? And when the situation at Billington shifts from hostile to dangerous, will Eve remain in the shadows, or rise up and fight?
