Blurb: One summer can change everything... Haunted with guilt after his girlfriend’s death, Daniel Hudson has no interest in committing to anyone. At the end of the summer, he’ll be leaving Florida for a new start in college. If only he could avoid the mysterious new girl in town, who seems every bit as naive and eccentric as she looks. Trouble is, she’s hard to ignore, with her beautiful piercing eyes, pitiful-looking dog, and unsettling tendency of finding trouble. Clover Scott lived her whole life off the grid and arrives on the Gulf coast in search of her grandparents. She never expected to nearly drown, or get caught in a hurricane, or fall in love with the boy who rescues her. Now, she has a chance to rewrite her life’s story, to finally fit in somewhere, but Daniel wants answers about her past. When the police start asking questions about the disappearance of her parents, she must make a choice: go to jail or confess her secrets—even if they might destroy her chance at a happily-ever-after. Title: Anya and the Shy Guy ( A Backstage Pass Novel #4 ) Author: Suze Winegardner Publisher: Entangled Teen Crush Publication Date: July 14th, 2015 Genre: YA , Contemporary Format: e ARC My Rating: 4.25 / 5 stars Blurb: It’s always the quiet ones… Anya Anderson doesn’t just need a big break, she needs any break. Living on the streets doesn’t leave a girl many options, so when she scores a gig reporting on the Seconds to Juliet tour, she jumps at the chance to earn enough money to sleep somewhere safe. And the paycheck will get bigger—and keep her off the streets for good—if she can dig up dirt on Will Fray, the irritatingly hot “shy guy” of the band. Problem is, Will Fray isn't who everyone thinks he is. In fact, he’s not Will at all. Matt, Will's identical twin, is actually the guy onstage, reluctantly covering for his brother while he’s in rehab. To make matters worse, Matt’s being shadowed by a cute reporter with troubled eyes determined to get the scoop. On him. And he's having trouble finding the willpower to keep his distance… But if the secret gets out, it won't just be his head on a platter—it’ll be the whole band’s. This Entangled Teen Crush book contains steamy make out scenes, graphic language, and a love story so hot your copy may spontaneously burst into flames. You’ve been warned. My Review: I received an e ARC of Anya and the Shy Guy from Entangled Crush via Net Galley in exchange with my honest review. Although I did not read any of the previous books, I was still able to keep up and enjoy the book easily. The Backstage pass is a series that follows a famous boy band as each one of them fall in love. In this fourth installation, we get to see the shy guy ,Will, fall in love, but Will isn't Will. This novel is told from 2 POV's , but in third person ! We follow Anya's story as she tries to get her story on Will to escape living on the streets, and the lies she told and hid . We also see Matt's story as he tries to charm Anya to keep her from discovering his twin's secrets, but of course they Fall In Love ! But will this love survive ? Can their secrets stay hidden? What would happen if both of their secrets are spilled? Tada da dan ! Read to know how this story ends I like that we got see both POV, and I like it more that it is written in 3rd person. I also liked how the characters developed, in a "what matters to me more "sort of way. My only problem was something that happened in the ending. Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert !! I am not convinced that their manager agreed to back off so easily. He seemed like a person who would risk anything to get what he wants, isn't that why Will is not Will, but backed off too easily at the end. I wished that there was more into what happened when the band stood up for what they want. Spoiler Ended Spoiler Ended !! The novel was a bit graphic, so I don't recommend it to very young readers. You know what, get it and read it when you are older! I think that Suze did a good job with her debut novel.I am defiantly looking forward to read more of her books. Anya and the Shy Guy is the perfect summer read! With all of the fluffiness, swoon, and interesting events, I was not able to put it down. I give Anya and the Shy Guy 4.25 /5 stars . Title: Modern Monsters Author: Kelly York Publisher: Entangled Teen Publication Date : June 2nd, 2015 Genre: YA, Contemporary Format: e ARC My Rating : 3.75 stars Blurb: Vic Howard never wanted to go to the party. He’s the Invisible Guy at school, a special kind of hell for quiet, nice guys. But because his best friend is as popular as Vic is ignored, he went… And wished he hadn’t. Because something happened to a girl that night. Something terrible, unimaginable, and Callie Wheeler’s life will never be the same. Plus, now Callie has told the police that Vic is responsible. Suddenly, Invisible Vic is painfully visible, on trial both literally, with the police, and figuratively, with the angry kids at school. As the whispers and violence escalate, he becomes determined to clear his name, even if it means an uneasy alliance with Callie's best friend, the beautiful but aloof Autumn Dixon. But as Autumn and Vic slowly peel back the layers of what happened at the party, they realize that while the truth can set Vic free, it can also shatter everything he thought he knew about his life. My Review: I received an e ARC of Modern Monsters from Entangled Teen via Net Galley , in exchange with my honest review . An applause for Kelly York because this my favorite contemporary book that I have read so far ! Thanks for reviving my faith in this genre; now I can go and read more contemporaries ! I liked how there is diversity in this book. In case you are wondering what is diverse in this book, it was a character with (I think) an Arabic Origin . He might be a Muslim, but I am not sure about that. Anyway, it was great to have a character with a different background who wasn't just added to make the book "Diverse", but because it actually serves a purpose to the story; no matter how small that purpose was ! I also appreciate the fact that such a serious scenario was discussed in a story. Not many people make rape the main plot of their story, and focus the lens on how everyone's life gets turned upside down. My only problem with this book was the writing style. It was way too simple to what I usually read. I also kind of knew knew who did it from the start,so it wasn't a shocking revealing at the end of the story. However, the romance development between Vic and Autumn is extremly adorable, and the events that happen through out the book will made me read the book in less than three days. Did anyone notice how if you try to ship Vic and Autumn , you get a word that sounds like Victim ???? :) Also, the ending nevertheless was still shocking . I enjoyed reading Modern Monsters, and I give it 3.75 stars out of 5.
Title: Awakening (Awakening #1)
Author: Shannon Duffy Publisher: Entangled teen Publication Date: April 7th Genre: Dystopia,YA,Sci-Fi My Rating:4/5 stars (B+) Purchase Links: Amazon│Barnes & Noble│Kobo Books Blurb: A thrilling, futuristic sci-fi novel set in a unique and thought-provoking world, from author Shannon Duffy. Desiree Six (because she was born on a Friday) believes in everything the Protectorate stands for. She likes the safety and security of having her entire life planned out—her career, her mate, even the date of her death. She doesn't even think to question when Darian, her childhood friend and neighbor, is convicted of murdering his parents. They had seemed like such a loving family. But if he was convicted, then he must have done it. Then Darian shows up in her room late one night. He has escaped from the Terrorscape—a nightmare machine used to punish all Noncompliants—and needs Desiree's help. What he tells her rocks her world to its core and makes her doubt everything she's ever been told. With this new information, will Desiree and Darian be able to escape the Protectorate before it's too late? My Review: I received an eARC of Awakening in exchange with my honest review during the Awakening Blog Tour hosted by YA Blog tours. Shannon Duffy mixes several popular aspects from the YA culture, and adds her own touch of individuality when she speculates the concepts of sleep, dreams, and nightmares to come with such an entertaining novel to read. In a world where the protectorate use Fate to decide everything for you, from how many years you live to who you marry ,the so called Utopian world becomes Dystopian ! I absolutely enjoyed reading Awakening. It was a fast read with many elements such as sci-fi technology and romance in it. The beginning of the book is dedicated to describe the world and a briefing on why has it evolved to become this way. We also follow Desiree, who believes that the system is right no matter what. Things become more interesting when Darian is added to the picture . What I really like about the romance that it wasn't rushed or overdone . It was just perfect. My favorite line is " I love it when you owe me" ! Tell me if you agree ! I really enjoyed visualizing the Terrorscape ; it was one of my favorite chapters to read. It displayed the author's creativity in the best way possible. There are some gaps in the story that may or may not be answered in the next book.I also thought that the character building and the ending was a bit rushed. A bit more elaboration would have served the story more justice, but it does not change how this story is a must read. The world building and the story Awakening has to tell is so thrilling that it might keep you up too late to finish it. Unfortunately, it ends with a cliffhanger. A very good cliffhanger that I hope will elaborate on the points that were not thoroughly discussed in Awakened! I really enjoyed Awakened ,and I can't wait to read the next book. I give it 4/5 stars and a B+ according to my own rating scale.

Title: Anomaly ( Schrodinger's Consortium #1 ) Author: Tonya Kuper Publisher: Entangled Teen Publication Date: November 25th , 2014 Genre: Sci-Fi, YA, Romance, Dystopian Format: eARC My Rating: 5/5 stars ( A-) Blurb: Reality is only an illusion. My first boyfriend dumped me—happy birthday, Josie!—my dad is who knows where, I have some weird virus that makes me want to hurl, and now my ex is licking another girl’s tonsils. Like, everything. Who I am. My family. What really happened to my brother. Existence. I am Oculi, and I have the ability to change reality with my thoughts. Now Reid, in all his hotness, is charged with guiding and protecting me as I begin learning how to bend reality. And he’s the only thing standing between me and the secret organization that wants me dead… My Review: I received and e ARC of Anomaly from Entangled Teen via NetGalley and YA Bound Blog in exchange with an honest review. Anomaly is a book that captures your attention just like that; when you are only a few pages in! Not only is the plot absolutely original, but also the character development is incredible . I found Josie always confused with the way she feels towards her mother. At first it was a bit confusing to read, but as the story went on, Josie became a bit stronger and started to have a bit more rigid believes. The way the author,Tonya, made physics rules an explanation of the characters' powers , which is making things appear and disappear by just thinking it , is just absolutely mind blowing. Although the setting is just a typical city, but the author's description of secret rooms and the way things appear and disappear is amazing. And now we come to the Romance part; I absolutely shipped Josie and Reid !! And the best thing is that the story was told from both of their P.O.V. So I was able to get a glimpse of what each one of them is thinking! With a story packed with humor, action, love, and trust, Anomaly is a book that I was not able to put down. Especially when each chapter left you hanging, not giving a complete closure to what happen. I loved Anomaly and I personally can't wait to read the second book in the series. I give this book 5/5 stars and an A- according to my own rating scale. Also known―at least to sixteen-year-old Ava Pegg―as the Land of Incredibly Boring Vacations. What exactly were her parents thinking when they bought a summer home here? Then the cute-but-really-annoying boy next door shows up at her place in a panic…hollering something about flesh-eating zombies attacking the town. My Review: I received an eARC copy of Dead Over Heels from the author in exchange with an honest review. Dead over Heels is a companion to Donna of the Dead, so you don't have to read the first book to read this one. But then, you will be missing all the awesomeness of the first book. In the contrary with the first novel, Dead Over Heels has much more romance than the first book.It is mostly based on two main characters, Eva and Cole, rather than a bigger group of friends/classmates. Which was really interesting because the author was able to share the story with the readers using both perspectives. The setting was in the woods, which makes running away from zombies a bit more difficult because there is no safe place to hide that is anywhere near!\ Speaking of zombies, there are not actually dead. However, their brains are. It caused by some kind of new flew spreading all around the world. Is there any humor in it at all ? YES, there were times were I could not stop laughing! Opps I did again, reread few parts when I finished the book :) Back to the Romance, it was one of my favorite types! You know, when two people can barely stand each other and as time flies they fall in love! I think the events of Dead Over Heals occurs somewhere either at the same time or somehow before the events of Donna of the Dead. I believe in the third and last book would somehow come together to fight this flu??? I am not sure, but that would totally kick ass ! This is such a great read if you are going through a reading slump, or if you want something packed with adventure, humor, and romance, something that you would get into so easily. So basically Dead Over Heals is a great read with zombie frosting and romance topping! I give this book 5/5 stars and an A according to my own rating scale. About the Author Alison Kemper grew up in South Florida, the only girl on a street with eleven boys. She spent most of her childhood paddling a canoe through neighborhood canals and looking for adventure. She usually found it. Sometimes the police were involved. And large dogs. And one time, a very territorial snake. Now that she’s grown up, she lives in North Carolina and writes books. The books often include girls having adventures. With boys. Cute boys. And cute dogs too. But no cute snakes. Never cute snakes. Her debut novel, Donna of the Dead, was published by Entangled Teen in 2014 and is followed by two companion books in the series. She loves to meet new people and talk books, so send her a friend request or connect with her on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/Alison_Kemper ) and Instagram. |
